North Hardin High School is excited to host the first home football game of the season this Friday, September 11th at 7:30PM. We play Central Hardin and it is a “Blackout!” Wear black to support your Trojans!

This is just a reminder that students middle school aged and below must be accompanied by a supervising adult or they will not be allowed into the stadium.

Anyone attending the game is expected to be in the stands and watching the game.

No backpacks are allowed into the stadium.

Tomorrow is High Attendance Day, and we are excited to celebrate with our students!

To make the day extra special, students may:

Wear their pajamas to school
Participate in a variety of fun activities throughout the day

We will also have a snack cart available for students who would like to purchase treats. Students may want to bring a few extra dollars to buy items from the snack cart.

Dear Trojan Families,

We are excited for our first dance of the school year and can't wait to see our Trojans show off their best moves!

To help the event run smoothly and safely, please review the following pick-up procedures:

Please do not plan to pick up your child early from the dance. Students will not be allowed to bring their belongings into the gym, and all staff members are needed inside the event to supervise students. The first dance of the year is always very well attended, and we are unable to spare staff members to escort students to retrieve their belongings before dismissal.

All students will be dismissed promptly at 5:00 PM.

To make dismissal as efficient as possible, we will utilize two pick-up lines:

Morning Drop-Off Line
If you normally drop off your child in the morning, this line pattern will remain the same for dance pick-up.

Bus Parking Lot Line
A second pick-up line will be located in the bus parking lot. Please form a line beginning at the front doors and continue through the entrance to the parking lot.

We do not recommend parking and walking up to pick up your child, as it may be difficult to exit the parking lot once vehicles are lined up for dismissal.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we work to safely dismiss a large number of students. We are looking forward to a fun and memorable evening for our students!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are excited to announce our Back to School Dance this Friday from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM!

Admission: $5.00
Concessions: The concession stand will be open during the dance.
Tickets: Tickets will be sold during lunch on the day of the dance.

To purchase a ticket and attend the dance, students must meet the following eligibility requirements:

No more than 4 behavior points
No suspensions and no more than 2 ISD/ASD assignments combined during this trimester
No more than 2 unexcused absences during this trimester
No failing grades (F's)

Since it is still early in the trimester, most students currently qualify to attend. However, we encourage students and families to keep these expectations in mind, as these same criteria will be used throughout the year to determine eligibility for PBIS events.

As we wrap up our fundraiser and an exciting day of Color Games, we want to take a moment to thank you for your incredible support.

Thank you for your generous donations and for helping us raise money that will directly benefit our students and school. We know the last two weeks have included a lot of fundraiser emails, reminders, and updates, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding throughout the process.

We would also like to give a special shout-out to the parents who volunteered their time today to help with the Color Games. Your willingness to jump in and support our students helped make the day run smoothly and added to the fun and excitement for everyone involved. We are grateful for your partnership and commitment to our school community.

Our Fundraiser is coming to an end: tomorrow we will host our Color Games Event, meaning that today is the last day for students to raise money to help our school.

If you have donated already, we greatly appreciate your continued support. If you would like to contribute and help our school, please visit the website linked below.

On the donation page please add your student's first and last name in the "note of encouragement" box and we will manually credit your student for the donation. If you would like to donate to the school and it not be attached to a student you can type JTA in the note of encouragement box.

The cut-off time for donations is tomorrow, 8/21, at 8 am online and all cash and checks must be turned into the cafeteria before school starts tomorrow!

As the games will happen on the outside field, please talk to your student about wearing comfortable clothes and worn-out/comfortable shoes. The games will involve color powder, and although every participant will receive a t-shirt to wear, we don’t want students to be concerned about getting their brand new school clothes messy. This is going to be a fantastic event and lots of fun. The students are looking forward to it, and so are we! Have a great evening.

We are down to the final two days of our school-wide fundraiser, and we would greatly appreciate your support as we work toward our goal!

A reminder that students can continue sharing their fundraising page from home. They do not need a phone to participate. Any device with internet access will work, making it easy to share with family and friends.

We are also excited about our Color Battle on Friday! This is always a fun event, and we are looking forward to celebrating with our students and wrapping up a fantastic week as we say goodbye to our Apex friends. It is sure to be a memorable day for everyone involved!

As a reminder, this is our only fundraiser of the year, and the funds raised directly benefit our students. We use this money to help keep the cost of field trips affordable for families, provide student rewards and incentives, and fund our Trojan Store and student auctions, where students can spend the Trojan Bucks they earn for demonstrating positive behavior and making good choices throughout the school year.

Because of your generosity, last year we were able to provide some incredible experiences for our students, including:

Taking every student to Actors Theatre of Louisville to see A Christmas Carol
Taking every student to the PAC to see Seussical the Musical
Sending our 6th graders to Louisville to see Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief at Stage One
Offering numerous additional grade-level field trips throughout the year

Good Morning, This is James T. Alton Middle School principal, Danielle Cassady.

At approximately 9:15 this morning, while practicing a fire drill, we accidentally hit the wrong button and triggered an emergency response using our Raptor Technologies System. Everything is fine. All is well. We simply had a fire drill. There is no emergency.

We appreciate everyone’s care for our students and staff. And, we are thankful to our first responders and staff who took the situation seriously. Thank you for your support and dedication to our James T. Alton family!

Dear JTA Families,

We are getting into the groove of things here at JTA, and students are settling in nicely! It has been wonderful seeing everyone return and begin building positive routines for a successful school year.

Today, we held our Apex Rally to officially kick off our school-wide fundraiser. This is the only fundraiser we conduct for the entire school year, and the funds raised directly benefit our students. Proceeds help support field trips, the Trojan Store and Auction, student incentives, and many other activities throughout the year. Most importantly, every penny raised goes right back to our students.

We are excited to partner with Apex Leadership Co., an organization that focuses not only on fundraising but also on teaching students valuable leadership and character-building lessons. Over the next two weeks, Apex team members will be in our building encouraging students, teaching leadership skills, recognizing positive character traits, and, of course, giving away plenty of prizes and incentives along the way!

Your child should be bringing home a flyer with an access code and instructions for participating. Students are not selling products. Instead, they are encouraged to share their fundraiser page with close friends and family members who may wish to support our school through a donation. We have also instructed students not to send their donation link to strangers.

Our fundraiser will conclude with our exciting Color Battle event on August 21! To make this event a success, we need 8 parent volunteers:

2 volunteers from 10:30 a.m. until the end of the school day
6 volunteers from 1:00 p.m. until the end of the school day

Finally, our first home game of the season is tomorrow! Our Lady Trojans Basketball Team will take on East Hardin, with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 p.m. We'd love to see our Trojan community come out and support our student-athletes.

JTA Families,

What an amazing first day of school! We had an exceptionally smooth start to the year, and I want to thank all of our students, staff, and families for helping make today such a success.

A special thank you goes to our parents and guardians who participated in car rider drop-off this morning. Your patience and cooperation made the process run smoothly and safely.

As we continue throughout the year, please remember to pull as close to the vehicle in front of you as possible when dropping off or picking up your child. This allows us to load and unload more vehicles at the same time and helps the line move much faster for everyone.

For families who regularly pick up their child in the afternoons, please make sure you have a car rider tag. We will only use the tags on days when weather conditions require students to remain inside. During inclement weather, students will wait in the library, and we will call them outside by their car rider number. On normal weather days, students will simply wait in the designated area outside and load when you arrive.

I also want to share some good news regarding school meals. Although the district-wide free breakfast and lunch program is no longer available due to a loss of funding, JTA will continue to provide free breakfast and lunch for every student. There is no need to send money for regular breakfast and lunch meals.

We are able to continue offering free meals to all students for two very important reasons:

First, families complete the Free and Reduced Lunch Application. Once a school reaches a certain qualifying percentage, all students can receive free meals. Even if you do not think your family will qualify, completing the application is extremely important because it helps determine our eligibility as a school.

Second, students participate in the meal program. The more students who eat breakfast and lunch at school, the stronger our chances of maintaining this benefit in future years. We encourage students to take advantage of the meals available to them. As many of our middle school parents know, growing kids are often hungry, and that's okay!

The Free and Reduced Lunch Application is included as part of the Annual Update that every family should complete each year.

Currently, approximately 67% of our families have completed their Annual Update. Our goal is 100%.

Completing the Annual Update is important because:

It includes the Free and Reduced Lunch Application.
It provides access to Infinite Campus Parent Portal, which allows you to monitor grades, attendance, and other important information.
It ensures that we have your current phone number, address, and email address.
School messages, phone calls, emails, and notifications are pulled directly from the information in Infinite Campus. If your contact information is outdated, you may miss important communications from the school.

How to Complete the Annual Update:

Parents must have an Infinite Campus Parent Portal username and password.
If you do not have your login information, please contact JTA for assistance.
If you already have a Parent Portal account, you do not need a new one.
Visit www.hardin.kyschools.us and select Parent Portal under the Students and Families section.
Click Campus Parent and log in with your username and password.
Follow the prompts to review and update your family's information.
Only one parent per household is required to complete the update.
Some forms required by state or federal regulations may still need to be completed on paper, and those went home with students today.

Finally, a quick note about schedules: We know that students are excited to compare schedules with friends and may want to request different classes or different class periods. Unfortunately, we are not able to make schedule changes based on preference, teacher requests, lunch periods, or wanting a class at a different time of day. The exceptions are students who would like to enroll in band, orchestra, or choir, and 8th grade students who would like to participate in JROTC. We can still make those changes if space is available. All other related arts classes are currently full. However, if you notice an actual scheduling error, such as your child missing a core content class, having two of the same core class, or another obvious mistake in their schedule, please contact us so we can correct it as soon as possible.

Good Evening, Trojan Families,

Tomorrow is the first day of school, and we cannot wait to welcome our students back!

Our staff has been hard at work preparing for a great year. Over the summer, we've spent time learning new strategies and planning engaging lessons to help our students learn, grow, and succeed. We are excited to see our hallways filled with students once again.

As we begin the school year, I wanted to share a few important reminders:

Students will receive their schedules tomorrow morning, so there is no need to stress about printing one at the last minute. We will make sure every student feels welcome and knows exactly where they need to be.

Please be aware that buses may run late during the first few days of school as routes and procedures get settled. If your child is waiting at their stop, a bus will arrive and get them to school. Likewise, afternoon drop-offs may take a little longer than usual. We appreciate your patience as our transportation department works through the beginning-of-the-year adjustments.

Our doors will open at 7:40 a.m. for students. If your child is a car rider, please avoid arriving extremely early, as we do not want to create a traffic backup on Country Club Road.

School dismisses at 3:00 p.m. If you pick up your child, please pull as closely as possible to the vehicle in front of you. This helps us maximize space and keep the pickup line moving efficiently for everyone.

Finally, Your child will come home tomorrow with paperwork that requires your attention and signature. Yes, even if you completed online registration! There will be fewer forms if you registered online, but there will still be a few items that need to be reviewed and signed. Think of it as your first homework assignment of the school year.

That about covers it!

All incoming 6th grade students are encouraged to attend Operation Middle School. This event serves as a 6th grade orientation and is designed to help students become familiar with middle school expectations, procedures, and the building before the school year begins.

Following Operation Middle School, 6th grade families are invited to stay for Open House. This is a great opportunity to meet teachers, visit classrooms, and learn more about the upcoming school year.

Students and families in grades 7 and 8 are invited to attend Open House from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Families will have the opportunity to meet teachers, visit classrooms, and get ready for a successful start to the school year.
